<h3>2.2 Liaison Reports</h3>

<h4>2.2.1 SC22 report</h4>

<p>
Benito reports:
</p>
<ul>
<li>
SC22 has put two TRs, 24737 and 29117 (i.e. "TR2" and "modules") on as preliminary items, so WG21 has about a year to decide what to do about them.
</li>
<li>
the Secretariat has asked WG convenors not to initiate New Work Items until they are ready to work on them.
</li>
<li>
14882:2003 is up for 5 year periodic review next year.
</li>
<li>
Document WG21/N4278, the C++/POSIX Liaison statement was not discussed formally at the SC22 plenary meeting, but it was discussed informally, and the sense of all the discussions was that liaison was happening between the groups.
</li>
<li>
There is a new SC22 chair, pending confirmation: Rex Jaeschke.
</li>
</ul>

<p>
Sutter reported that the New Work Item on special math has succeeded, and noted that
a couple of countries voted no, as there was concern that there should be no secondary C++ standard of any kind.
</p>

<p>
Dos Reis reported that France would like to see this work included in the C++ standard, not a separate standard.
</p>

<p>
Hedquist explained that this Work Item if for a binding to C++
Dos Reis replied that the same thing could be said about iostreams.
</p>

<p>
Meredith indicated that there was concern on the UK panel about the selection of functions.
</p>

</p>
<p>
Stroustrup emphasized the importance of the separate WG21 meeting, observing that Sunday night meetings might not always be as short as they have tended to be in the recent past.
</p>
<p>
Sutter decided to make no change to the current practice of holding Sunday night meetings.
