<p><b>Discussion:</b></p>
<p>The &quot;overload&quot; for the function <code>exceptions()</code> in
paragraph 8 gives the impression that there is another function of
this function defined in class <code>ios_base</code>. However, this is not
the case. Thus, it is hard to tell how the semantics (paragraph 9) can
be implemented: &quot;Call the corresponding member function specified
in clause 31 <a href="https://wg21.link/input.output">[input.output]</a>.&quot;</p>


<p id="res-176"><b>Proposed resolution:</b></p>
<p>In 99 [depr.ios.members] paragraph 8, move the declaration of the
function <code>exceptions()</code>into class <code>basic_ios</code>.</p>
